Koi have been working in partnership with the Manchester Confucius Institute whose main purpose is the teaching of Chinese language through evening classes, school partnerships, and teacher training programmes. They also aim to encourage a broader and deeper understanding of Chinese culture and contemporary China through a vibrant public events programme. Koi has had an amazing time so far creating bespoke recipes and teaching traditional recipes to all the participants of the sell-out workshops.
So far we have run 2 out of 3 cookery classes. The first celebrated the Chong Yang Festival and the foods associated with this special family occasion.
For the second workshop, we explored the different ways a rice cooker could be used to cook anything else but rice!
The final workshop for 2019 will take place on Friday 6th December. As the Christmas season approaches, we will be teaching how to make Hong Kong street food such as Siu Mai (dumplings), curried fish balls and finishing with Bubble Waffles. We look forward to it!Back to all posts
