The Chinese New Year of the Rooster fell on 28th January 2017 and Koi celebrated with the people of Broadbottom and surrounding villages by hosting a free Koi Cooking Class at Broadbottom Community Centre. 15 participants took part in the class where they learned how to make Chinese ‘potsticker’ dumplings (Jiaozi) which are traditionally made by Chinese families all over the world to eat on Chinese New Year’s Eve.
Sam taught the class how versatile dumplings can be, from adding flavours to the dough to creating different fillings and dipping sauces.
Everyone’s hard work paid off when the class cooked up the dumplings they made and got to taste them at the end of the class.
There are more community cooking classes in the pipeline, keep an eye on our social media pages to find out when the next classes will be. Koi’s Cooking School is also working with Cracking Good Food based in Chorlton, Greater Manchester, to run 3 monthly Cantonese Dim Sum classes, the next class is taking place on 29th April, 15th July and 14th October 2017, so if you are interested in learning some traditional Chinese cooking techniques, this class could be right up your street!Back to all posts
