Cooking School

Become a better cook

With a wealth of experience in the catering industry and over 7 years of cookery teaching, Sam leads online and in-person cooking classes to suit all abilities. The classes are fun and you learn all the little tricks and hacks to making cooking easier. Sam shares her personal stories and family recipes so you can impress your family and friends with your new and improved culinary skills!

Specialising in East and South East Asian cooking styles, you will learn about the origins of the recipes as well as the different techniques involved in their preparation. Sam believes it is important to cooking from scratch and minimise food waste as much as possible. If you have any special dietary requirements, contact us to discuss how we can adapt recipes to suit you. Most of the recipes we have devised can be adapted to gluten-free and vegan diets, or a suitable alternative will be created.

Online Cookery Classes

Online Cookery Classes

Socialising online has become the new way of touching base and catching up with friends and family.

Living far away from each other need not mean that you can not spend quality time together. With Koi’s tailored online cookery classes you can learn to cook a meal together under the expert guidance of Sam Sin.

Upon booking, you will receive a list of ingredients and the cookery tools you will need to prepare for your class. On the day of the class, you will receive a Zoom link to share with your group so everyone can log in on their own devices.

Top tips:

* Having your ingredients prepared ahead of the class means you will have more time to chat with each other

* Make sure you have a charger on hand in case your battery is running low, Zoom is a bit of an energy thief!

Collaborations: Let's work together!

Collaborations: Let's work together!

Koi has collaborated with several partners to bring to life the traditional Chinese recipes that Sam loves to share.

We make online cookery videos, take part in webinars and online discussions. Here are a few examples of previous work we have been involved in:

University of Manchester Confucius Institute

Koi has a long-standing partnership with the UoM Confucius Institute running in-person cookery classes and online events each with a different theme and focus to highlight and celebrate Chinese culture through food.

Cracking Good Food

Sam has been working with Cracking Good Food for over 5 years to teach cookery classes in the community and in their Cookery School. We have devised recipes for Thai and Vietnamese, Japanese and Cantonese cuisines and shared the recipes with hundreds of people who have attended the cookery classes both online and in-person.

Centre for Chinese Contemporary Arts

The Centre for Chinese Contemporary Arts hosts the Dumplings Social Club which is an arts programme for Chinese older (50+) people. Participants have the chance to practice art-making, meet like-minded people, and enjoy making and eating dumplings! Koi collaborated with CFCCA to create a bespoke Cantonese language cookery video that was shared in their private virtual social gatherings.

If you are interested in hosting an online event or working in collaboration with Koi to highlight a recipe or Chinese cultural event then please send us a message. To get a quicker answer you can call Sam on 07392 851 566.

We would love to hear from you!
